AMERICA AT HOME represents the largest
collaborative book project in internet history as 100 of the world’s
top photojournalists and millions of amateur American shutterbugs
throughout the country documented the concept of home with everything
from professional digital to cell phone cameras. Over the course
of one week, September 17-23, 2007, these photographs were submitted
to www.MyAmericaAtHome.com
with the promotional efforts of corporate sponsors including IKEA,
Google, and Snapfish, as well as Facebook and independent bloggers,
who learned of this massive project.
Now hundreds of the most telling and unique photographs
are compiled in this wonderful collection spearheaded by Rick Smolan
and the team that produced the national bestsellers, A
Day in the Life of America and America 24/7. The book
captures the essence, emotions and rituals associated with homes
of all types—from houses, to apartments, to trailers and more!
Woven through the book are findings from a survey conducted by IKEA,
which poled 1000 Americans on their impressions of home and how
they use their living spaces. The results are fascinating, making
this publication a newsworthy event. As a special perk, readers
will have the ability to customize the book by downloading their
own cover photograph through the America at Home website.
National publicity out of New York, along with
IKEA in-store promotions.
