Amy Goldman is an accomplished gardener, passionate seed saver, and an expert on tomatoes—growing over 1,000 different varieties over the last 35 years. Her new book, THE HEIRLOOM TOMATO - From Garden to Table: Recipes, Portraits, and History of the World’s Most Beautiful Fruit (Bloomsbury; August 12, 2008; Hardcover), presents the fascinating history and allure of tomatoes in a way that only a true insider could provide.

THE HEIRLOOM TOMATO features in depth information about 200 varieties of Heirlooms, tended by Amy in her personal garden, paired with mouth-watering color photos taken by photographer Victor Schrager, who collaborated with Amy on her two previous books (The Compleat Squash and Melons for the Passionate Grower). Amy also shares fifty-five luscious tomato-based recipes, many of which were developed with help from Chef Eve Felder, Associate Dean for the Culinary Arts at the Culinary Institute of America.
